Say No to Terror, No to Repression, Stand for Peace and Justice

The All India Student and Youth Organization (AISYO) strongly condemns the brutal terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 28 innocent lives, including students, workers, and visitors, were taken in cold blood. This horrific attack is not just an act of terror, but a direct assault on peace, communal harmony, and the fundamental right to life. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims, and we stand in unwavering solidarity with those injured.
Reports indicate that the attackers specifically targeted Hindu tourists after confirming their identities. This deliberate communal targeting, coming just ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, is a vile attempt to sow fear and polarize communities. Yet, amidst this tragedy, the spirit of unity among the Kashmiri people shines through. Local Muslim residents bravely helped the injured, and civil society, including the Muslim-led Traders' Association, called for a strike to protest the killings. With over 2.2 million tourists visiting Kashmir in 2024, such violence threatens not only lives but also the economic stability of countless Kashmiris who rely on tourism for their livelihoods.
This tragedy further exposes the failure of the Modi government's so-called "normalcy" in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. Despite heavy militarization and suppression of dissent, the government has failed to ensure the safety of its citizens and visitors. AISYO demands a comprehensive and independent investigation into the security lapses and the real perpetrators behind this horrific attack. We also demand immediate and unconditional support, financial, medical, and legal, to the families of the deceased and injured. Finally, we urge the media and the public to resist any attempts to communalize this tragedy.
