Palestinians are in the most difficult of times. There is no ground to stand; No sky to look at; No freedom to breathe. Screams of pain eclipsed movements of joy; Sounds of bullets ripping through bodies deafened children's play grounds. Wailing mothers waiting for messiahs, lost sons, broken arms, amputated legs, broken hearts..... Mass graves, collapsed hospitals, piles of buildings' rubble, destroyed fields, polluted waters.. This is the state of Palestine. A State without a standing army, facing the wrath of the Military laboratory, Israel, of the most formidable force on earth, US Imperialism.
Not One, Not two, Palestine has already seen entire 12 months of genocidal war. Israel has dropped over 85,000 tonnes of bombs on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, exceeding the amount of explosives used in World War II. Yet, Israel's onslaught is not stopping.
Israel launched an offensive on October 7 last year in response to a surprise attack by the Hamas group. As many as 45,000 Palestinians died till now as a result of these attacks. Another two lakh people died due to hunger and disease. 70 percent of the dead were children and women. Hundreds of health workers and journalists lost their lives. More than one lakh people were injured. Two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip lost their homes and became refugees.
Israel has encircled Palestinians and is continuously raining bombs. It is preventing food, drinking water and medical care reaching the Palestinian people. It has destroyed schools, colleges and universities. No language in the world can describe the atrocities committed by Israel and the plight of the Palestinian people during this year. Even after causing so much death and destruction Israel is not ready to stop the war, instead it started aerial and ground attacks on Lebanon because it is supporting Palestine.
Millions of people from many countries of the world are condemning this Israeli genocide, being carried out with the help of America. They are organizing protests on a large scale. It is remarkable that thousands of students at many universities of America have taken to the streets in solidarity with Palestine. United Nations Human Rights Council condemned Israeli actions, Amnesty International called it genocide and International Criminal Court issued arrest warrant on Netanyahu. the Israeli Prime Minister. But the rulers of our country are supporting Israel. Moreover, India's government and private companies are supplying weapons and military hardware to Israel to take the lives of thousands of Palestinian children.
Israel is not discussing the conflict between them since 1948. It is trying to portray itself as a victim country because of the attack by Hamas on last October 7th, and is portraying its genocide as a holy war for self-defense. And through the pro-American media, it is working hard to make the world believe this. Even many intellectuals who blindly believe this propaganda are unable to see the inhumanity happening in Palestine, the actual conflict and the root causes behind it.
It is foolish to look for a solution to the Palestinian problem through attacks and oppression without trying to find a political solution. Everyone knows how the US left Afghanistan in a shameful manner, unable to do anything even after 20 years of war. The experience of America's 'egg on the face' loss in Vietnam is unforgettable. Now the people of the Arab countries will challenge the acts of big brother America, inciting Israel against Palestine to maintain its hegemony in West Asia. In the run-up to the American presidential election, the strongly conservative, Donald Trump openly advocated on behalf of Netanyahu. Our Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have condemned Israel's attack on a sovereign country, but outrageously, he spoke in support of Netanyahu.
Oil reserves were discovered in 1908 in Persia and in 1938 in Arabia by western companies. But after the Second World War, it became difficult for the West to directly control the Middle East. Thus America created Israel, to gain control over the countries of Middle East, which have the largest oil reserves in the world. Since then, the US cast the "resource curse" on the Middle East. Coups, Civil wars and Wars became a natural phenomenon' of the Islamic world, while the west flourished. Israel, the military post of US in the Middle East, is aiming to annihilate the Palestinian nation. So it has been attacking the Palestine people in the most vicious manner and turned Palestine into an inferno. In these attacks, the Palestinians are losing their homes, lands, civilization, and their future generations. To this day they are fighting for their land, for their survival, for their right to liberty, without surrendering to the brutal enemy. It is the responsibility of students and youth to stand in solidarity with the struggles of the Palestinian people against the genocide carried out by Israel under American imperialism. As part of this task, PDSO-NYS State Committees are organizing a meeting to extend Solidarity to Palestine on December 12, 2024 in Guntur. We request students, youth and democrats to participate in this meeting and make it successful.
